Brava, Melissa, indeed, agreed 100% with your beautiful testimony to nature and animals. Thank you for your support of Wildlands, for animals, nature and humans. You captured the message and mission exquisitely. I am grateful for you and your work. xx

This piece really landed for me. I grew up in the city, but I live in the country now and will never go back. I don't have a dog right now; my wife's allergic, and between raising 5 teenagers and getting out of debt, we're waiting until we're settled on some land someday. Reading this, I realized part of what I'm actually waiting for isn't just "being allowed to have a dog again." It's what you're describing; that relationship with land and presence that a dog like Arya seems to unlock. I think I've been treating the dog as the goal, when really it might just be the invitation, like you said. This gave me language for something I didn't have words for either. Thank you for writing it.

I'm really grateful you took the time to tell me. Wishing you that land, a dog, and everything they might invite you into.
